The Magnetic Fields -BAM- Saturday, February 13, 2010

The Magnetic Fields always seem to have fun playing shows in smallish venues like Town Hall which offer intimate settings that are perfect for their constant banter about off-topic subjects. In contrast, the BAM's opera house is a much larger setting, and Claudia remarked about the sea of red exit lights in the distance. Fortunately, they felt quite at home in this pre-Valentine's Day show and played a selection of songs that spanned their entire career including first single 100,000 Fireflies.

While we didn't get All My Little Words or Take Ecstasy with Me or Smoke and Mirrors or Born on a Train or Grand Canyon or Papa was a Rodeo (now all of those songs would have truly made my night...), we were blessed to hear All the Umbrellas in London, Come Back From San Francisco, You and Me and the Moon, the hilarious The Nun's Litany and the newish songs off realism like We are having a Hootenany Now.
